Below is a list of all the volunteer opportunities available at Lannon Elementary for the 2017-18 school year.
We have so many ways that you can be a part of Lannon!
The easiest way to stay on top of opportunities to help out is to join our volunteer list! We’ll send you volunteer opportunities via email as they become available. We have opportunities for everyone—whether you can send in some cookies for an event, provide financial support, or help run an event. To join our list, please email our VP/Volunteer Coordinator, Andrea Knuf, at email@example.com.
This year, we’ll continue to use SignUp.com (the leading online SignUp and reminder tool) to organize our upcoming SignUps.
Here’s how it works in 3 easy steps:

5th Grade Party
Is this your child’s final year at Lannon? Celebrate this milestone by helping plan a fun party for the 5th grade in June, provide food or desserts (as determined by chair), and assist on the day of the party.
Charitable Contributions (Food Drives, etc.)
Lannon is a generous school community! Help organize food drives and other outreach-oriented activities we do throughout the year.
Many businesses and groups in the area offer events where schools can earn a portion of sales. We need help in identifying and setting up these opportunities to benefit our school!
We love to support our wonderful teachers and staff at Lannon! Under the direction of the committee chairs, you’ll help make or buy food, assist with picking up any food the day of, setting up, and cleaning up. Commitment varies based on how you’d like to help.
Dodge Ball Tournament
This fun Lannon tradition and fundraiser, held in spring, brings together families from around the district! Help us the day of the event by assisting with concessions, overseeing the games, and other tasks to make this a memorable day for all.
Our biggest fundraiser of the year! Do you like math? Then maybe you’d like to help us tally order forms and distribute all of the items upon arrival. Order tallying takes place in late September with distribution in November.
This spring event is a chance for Lannon families to come together for an evening of fun and learning. We need volunteers to help with activities the night of the event. Last year, we had a Lego Night that was a hit! What will this year’s theme be?!?
Father/Family & Child Pancake Breakfast
Help us plan this annual Lannon tradition! This breakfast, held on two consecutive days, is a great time for dads, grandpas, as well as other family members to enjoy pancakes and sausages with their student and visit the school. Help make this event special by assisting with decorations, set-up, serving food, and more on at least one of the two days (or both!).
Are you the compassionate, caring type? As part of our health room team, you’ll bandage boo-boos, offer some basic medical assistance, and comfort children who have gotten injured or aren’t feeling well. You will receive Red Cross training. This is a rotating commitment during school hours.
We are blessed with a great school library! Join a team of parents who help shelve library books throughout the year. Commitment based on your availability.
Monthly Treat Sale
Our students love treats! Volunteer to help “sell” on one Friday per month. This year, the treats are FREE!
Muffins with Mom
Help us celebrate our moms, grandmas and other special ladies in our students’ lives! Work with our chairs to plan a fun event, help with set-up and clean-up, and man the tables the day of the event. This event is held in May, right before Mother’s Day.
Scholarship Bake Sale
Did you know that our school raises money every year to give scholarships to graduating seniors who once called Lannon home? One way we do this is through our annual bake sale. As part of this team, you’ll assist with set-up on the day of the event, help students and parents select and purchase treats, and if you want to, bake . This event is held in the spring in conjunction with our pancake breakfast.
Help keep our school community informed of key events by updating the school sign! The sign is changed monthly or on as-needed basis. Commitment varies based on the number of volunteers.
This is one of the most loved events at Lannon! Help our students shop and select special gifts for their family and friends at this December event. If you love to wrap or manage inventory, we also have a place for you!
We’ve got spirit, yes we do, we’ve got spirit, how about you?!?!?! Encourage families to show their Cardinal pride and support Home & School by helping with spirit wear orders during the fall. You’ll help our chair organize and sort the orders so everyone can take home what they purchased.
Our annual Lannon tradition and one of our biggest fundraisers! Help the Spring Sprint team set-up, distribute fundraising prizes, and encourage student participation. Plus, be sure to join us the day of the event to cheer on all our runners!
Staff Appreciation Week
We love our teachers and staff at Lannon! Every May we show them our appreciation with a special week of meals, treats, small gifts, and more. As a part of this team, you’ll assist with decorations, help with food, and be involved in set-up and clean-up. Commitment varies based on how you can help!
End of School Picnic
We always have a great time of celebration on the last day of school! Work with our committee chair and the school to help plan the picnic as we send-off everyone into summer vacation. You may help run activities or assist with set-up or clean-up. This is a great opportunity for all parents to be involved!
Home & School’s website – www.lannonhomeandschool.com – are our Facebook page are our primary means of communicating with families. This person (or people) update our website with info on upcoming events, important dates and communications. Someone with a technical background is ideal but it’s relatively easy for anyone to make updates.
